5 Terrible UFC Fights That Ended Via Highlight-Reel Knockout

1. Frank Mir Vs. Mirko Cro Cop

Whenever you match two of the sport's greatest all-time heavyweights together, everyone gets excited for the guaranteed fireworks that await. When prolific finishers Frank Mir and Mirko Cro Cop were set to collide in the UFC 119 main event, that was no different. Unfortunately, things played out quite uneventfully compared to what everyone anticipated.

Mir, the former UFC champion, was known as one of the division's greatest submission artists while Cro Cop was known as the opposite for his exceptional knockout ability.

At the time, the legendary Croatian had finally appeared to have gotten things together after a disappointing start to his UFC career. Cro Cop was 3-1 in UFC bouts going into the fight with Mir and rode a two-fight winning streak that saw him finish his opponents.

For Mir, he was looking to rebound off a tough loss in an interim title contest against the notoriously heavy-handed Shane Carwin. The timing of the fight added that extra element of awesome to the matchmaking.

Yet, the fight ended up being one of the worst ever ... Over the course of three rounds, there was little to no action with moments of "wall and stall" by each man. The clock ticked away and the fans booed as if they'd never booed before. Around the mark of the final minute, it ended in a flash.

When Cro Cop entered into the pocket looking to land a left hand, Mir threw up a knee that slipped past Cro Cop's guard and put him unconscious. It was a beautiful knockout and came completely out of nowhere. But by that point, the damage had been done and nobody really cared as the crowd was more confused than anything.
