5 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Rampage (April 1)

2. Power Meets Power

Powerhouse Hobbs Keith Lee
AEW

The opening tag was spot, spot, spot. If that's not your thing, then you might prefer to see two big lads chucking one another about the place. That's precisely what Keith Lee vs. Powerhouse Hobbs was - it's ace that AEW decided to put this in the headline spot rather than the spotfest tag.

What a nice change of pace.

Lee and Hobbs refused to rush through anything they had planned. They didn't bow to the whims of a live audience who demand everything all the time, and coolly went about their business like they'd worked this match 500 times. Big Hobbs, for his part, gets better and better with each passing match.

Keith was only too happy to facilitate such progression by giving Powerhouse a prolonged heel beatdown that expertly set the scene for his comeback and some shenanigans from Ricky Starks/Swerve Strickland. Hobbs even got a visual win on Lee following a spinebuster before the finish.
