5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (26 Dec - Results & Review)

2. A Nothing Women’s Tag

Giulia Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre beat Giulia and Kiana James in around 3 minutes on Friday night. These women are really trying, but WWE needs to help them out a bit more than they have been. Giulia just isn’t over either, and that’s holding things back. Fans clearly prefer Green, but she’s still doing the arrogant, borderline delusional heel gimmick. It’s a weird mix; yes, it's cool that these workers have something to do, but Trips badly needs to refocus on the women’s side of SmackDown in the new year.

The boss pushed some of these characters into the background a little too much in 2025, and that’s caught up with them. Put it this way: Why should anyone care about Giulia hunting down Chelsea at this point, or that she beat Green in a nothing tag bout? There doesn't seem to be any punishment for failure anyway. Cast your gaze over to the mainline Women's Title scene and you'll see Michin (who regularly fails) going after reigning champ Jade Cargill.

More on that in a bit.

There's nothing to like about the Women's United States Title picture other than the fact that Chelsea is a far more entertaining champ than Giulia by default. It's concerning that the belt, whilst retaining some hope on Green, has been stuffed so far down the pecking order than it'd need to break its neck pecking to rise back up it. That's on the writers, and they don't get a pass for it.

Sort this out. Also, whilst you're at it...
