Well, it finally happened. One of the greatest tandems of this or any generation has splintered. OK, clearly that's just one internet writer thinking he's funny, and it's a bit cheeky when he's had some love for 'Melo Don't Miz' in the past. That's a short past though, because The Miz and Carmelo Hayes have only been buddying up since February, so their split feels a little sudden.

On the bright side, there is some potential here for Miz to make Melo look like a million bucks in some singles matches before Hayes hopefully moves up a rung on the SmackDown ladder. He could really use something meaningful. Is anyone else lowkey worried that this will be another false dawn? If one's choosing to look on the positive side, then they should receive an 'Up' for now. If nothing else, both men executed the split well here.

Fans in attendance live for SmackDown did react when The Miz rushed out to stop his now ex-partner's United States Title open challenge with a thudding Skull Crushing Finale, so that's promising. Hey, could Hayes be about to spin out into one of the most unlikely babyface turns of 2025?! It's just a thought, 'cause Miz was the clear villain here.

Cue all the 'Miz ain't Melo' jokes that are coming soon. That's a freebie you can have, WWE. Carmelo babyface'd himself by walking away calmly and with dignity before his so-called mentor stabbed him in the back just to be vindictive. Yeah, let's stay cheery on this for now and see where it takes us.

Carmelo Hayes could be a breakout success as a face, who knows?
