5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (2 Feb)

2. World Title Feud Struggles Again

Hangman Page
AEW

It's unfortunate that 'Hangman' Adam Page, one of the most over people in North American wrestling, feels like far from the most important thing in AEW at the moment, with his latest World Championship feud struggling to get going on any level.

While Lance Archer's beatdown of Page was at least impactful, it came following a mechanical promo train featuring brief rants from Page, Dan Lambert, and Jake Roberts. Page wanted to fight there and then, not next week. Lambert said little of note, while Jake, sadly, appears to have lost the magic. One of the greatest promos of all time he may be, but his gravitas is mostly gone.

That might suck more than anything.

The construction and execution of this feud have been weak from day one. It now desperately needs the Texas Deathmatch to bang. It should, given the participants, and it would have been impossible for AEW to make anything feel bigger than MJF vs. CM Punk on this night, in Chicago.

But even as a fill-in feud before Revolution, Page vs. Archer feels undercooked.
