5 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's Impact Wrestling (Mar 15)

1. Playing Possum

Johnny Impact and Brian Cage’s scheduled main event for the former’s World Championship never happened. Many could say they were disappointed the advertised match didn’t go as planned but when you look at the story development it had, there’s nothing bad to be said about the show-closing segment.

Killer Kross was on the verge of hitting Impact with a cinderblock and also hitting Taya Valkyrie with a steel chair, with the latter being saved by Cage. With Kross removed from the equation, Taya nailed The Machine with a low blow and Impact kipped back up, with his neck brace still on. A ruse all along.

Everything about this was perfect. From the suspense to Impact’s music playing before he never appeared to Taya playing possum to Kross laughing post-match, it’s exactly what’s needed right now. Looking back to a few months ago, it technically is the continuation of the angle where Killer Kross tried to persuade Johnny to let him be his bodyguard. Long-term booking in a way – lovely.

With Rebellion quickly approaching on 28 April, it looks like we could very well be looking at our main event if Brian Cage finally receives his World Championship opportunity.
