5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (18 Mar - Results & Review)

2. Lynch Left Standing

Becky Lynch survived a plunder brawl Monday night against a rival she’d never beaten in Nia Jax, finally slaying the one beast she never had toppled and clearing her path for WrestleMania XL.

Jax and Lynch used all the typical weapons – chairs, tables, steel steps, kendo sticks, and a ladder – effectively in their Last Woman Standing match, which saw Nia control most of the action until Becky came alive in the waning moments. Facing a Samoan Drop off the apron through a table, Lynch fought her way out of that and managed a Manhandle Slam through that same table before hitting a leg drop off a ladder through the announce desk to finally put Jax down for the ten count.

The win marked Lynch’s first victory ever over Jax in one-on-one competition, but it also (in theory) preserved a future feud between the two, as Becky still has never pinned or submitted Nia. Fans can argue the wisdom of giving Lynch a decisive victory over someone who could be a significant rival after WrestleMania XL, but this was still an effective match to show The Man’s tenacity.

Her staredown with Rhea Ripley afterward showed the gulf between the two: the comfortable, unbeatable champion, and the battered, battle-tested challenger. Both are confident and accomplished, but one is coming into WrestleMania xL with a ton of momentum… and battle scars.
