One year ago, Jey Uso was riding high, his long journey from tortured Bloodline member to outcast, to fan favorite, to undeniable superstar, to world champion finally complete.

Fast-forward, and Jey has slid all the way back to where he was three years ago, as the seething hothead pacing about and serving as Roman Reigns’ flunky. Gone is any trace of the Yeet Man, the former world champ who entered through the crowd and fired up fans.

Monday, Jey looked as though he had stepped into a time machine to 2023 as he paced in the ring holding a chair, while Jimmy Uso tried to calm Jacob Fatu down. Unfortunately, Jey’s impatience bubbled over and he touched off a brawl that saw the Usos come to Roman’s aid once again – after getting beat up themselves.

Reuniting the Usos with Reigns in a re-formed Bloodline isn’t a negative, but how they’ve gone about it, simply reverting Jey (and to a lesser extent, Jimmy) back to their older personae rather than having them find ways to reintegrate their current selves into the group, is lazy and unimaginative.

Jey doesn’t even look like the same guy, and it’s not like he’s had a character arc to arrive at this point. He’s just stopped yeeting and started mean-mugging while seething. The creative team simply hit the “reset” button and changed Jey back to Bloodline factory settings.
