5 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (May 17)

3. Morrison & Priest Run It Back... Sort Of

Damian Priest vs. John Morrison was lazily booked.

Priest defeated Morrison's partner, The Miz, in a WrestleMania Backlash lumberjack match, after which Miz was devoured by a horde of zombies. Here, Morrison stepped up to face Priest in what was ostensibly a pay-per-view rematch using the exact same stipulation (sans undead).

They worked a good match nonetheless. Priest vs. Morrison was several levels above the Miz match because it got more time and was unhindered by distractingly goofy flesh-eaters, with Morrison doing all in his power to avoid the lumberjacks and Priest at the same time, before he eventually ran out of hiding places.

The obligatory lumberjack fight gave Priest a mass of humanity to suplex Morrison on from the inside out. He looked good here, pinning Morrison after nailing Hit the Lights.

It's a shame WWE didn't follow up on Priest's post-match interview, in which he expressed a desire to answer Bobby Lashley's open challenge. That match would have been a hoot.
