5 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (April 1)

4. Shoot Your Shotzi

I'm not sure why I like gauntlet matches so much, given that they always follow the same predictable pattern. It might be because they were the only real challenge you used to get on the old PS2 SmackDown games and I've romanticised them ever since but, whatever, I digress.

I could have told you the moment this match was announced that Shotzi Blackheart would be on the of first two out, and she'd battle through the entire field until Dakota Kai finally arrived and, with an assist from Gonzales, advanced through to the ladder match. Anyone could have told you that, and yet it still ruled.

Weirdly, speaking as a big fan of both Xia Li and Kayden Carter, I think this would have been better if they'd just given Blackheart and Kai the allotted time as a singles match. The chemistry between the two in the short exchange we got was really something, and it would be great to see them get a sequel to this somewhere down the line. That new submission finisher is great as well.

A quick word on Raquel González though, I have never seen an enforcer role played so effectively by someone presented so incompetently. Every week she tries to stick the opponent, gets bantered off, and then Kai capitalises anyway.
