5 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 6)
3. Up - The First Fall
The show's main event was the long-awaited American Alpha-Revival match, and it didn't disappoint. Not only did it take up about half of the broadcast, but the bulk of the match was the first fall, which went more than fifteen minutes.
That was a welcome bit of logic. The two teams have had two (great) matches against one another. Both times, they took each other to the limit and both times, it took a lot of fighting before one tandem was able to put away the other. Booking a fall five minutes in would have been nonsensical.
As a result, the first fall felt like a proper match all by itself. Dash and Dawson got the heat on Chad Gable and did a great job of keeping him from Jason Jordan, but eventually, Gable tagged out. Jordan came in with a series of suplexes and locked Dawson in the Ankle Lock. Dash tried to get in the ring to break it, but Gable grabbed him by the foot and applied an Ankle Lock of his own. With no one to save him, Dash tapped out, putting American Alpha up 1-0.
