5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown (Jan 28)
4. Opening 8-Man Tag Match Was Fun
It's still somewhat baffling that Titus O'Neil isn't teaming with Darren Young as The Prime Time Players any longer. There was no televised explanation for why the duo aren't a regular tag-team anymore, which is the kind of thing WWE really must sort out. There should be an explanation for pretty much anything that happens on programming, because it helps the logic of shows. Instead of Young being featured, Titus teamed with Dolph Ziggler to join The Usos in their battle against The New Day and The Miz. What followed was an action-packed 8-man opener that had fans enjoying what they were seeing. It makes sense to suggest that The Usos are heading for another crack at the WWE Tag-Team Titles come Fast Lane, and this only feeds into that. After he scored the decisive pin on The Miz, O'Neil hit the crowd and celebrated with young children. This mini-push Titus is on the receiving end of right now is fine, it's just notable that the writing team haven't tied up his partnership with Darren Young whatsoever. Still, at least he starred in a fine match to kick of proceedings on Smackdown.
