5 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (April 15th)
1. An Uneven Debut For Dana Brooke
NXT is a development territory, and it's churlish to dump on someone during their first televised match, but this was a shaky start for NXT's newest female acquisition. Much has been played up of Dana Brooke's physique, and there can be no doubt that she looks damn impressive. With her bulging biceps, cut-glass handsomeness and bleach-blonde hair, she immediately invites comparisons to Beth Pheonix, which is certainly no bad thing. Comparions to the Glamazon should stop there however. Brooke looked nervous in the ring, her movements stiff, her steps a little uncertain and un-coordinated. She seemed very light on move-set too, performing solely strikes and shoves, to the point that you could hear a few dreaded 'You Can't Wrestle' chants begin to bubble. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCTWnnlsbLs Her history as a former fitness model won't endear her to the hardcore fans either, which isn't exactly fair as former greats Trish and Victoria both graduated from that walk of life. But enough criticism. If Dana Brooke is committed to her training, she'll go far in the WWE. She's got a heck of a finisher - a Samoan Driver - and a great look. With a larger move-set and more time in the ring, she might just be the next Glamazon.
