5 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (May 6)

2. Another Squash For Rhyno

File this under 'huge missed opportunity.' NXT made an emphatic statement last night, simply that "We Are Done With Bull Dempsey". He was decisively crushed by Rhyno. This is a huge shame for a number of reasons. First of all, the night was already wrestling-lite and so direly needed a strong middle match to keep the show alive. Second, Dempsey is talented, a throwback hairy beast of a brawler in the mould of Mad Dog Vachon, who deserves more time than he's given. Lastly, even if you have no plans for Dempsey, Rhyno is on a collision course with a man very similar in size, Baron Corbin. It would have served that budding rivalry much more to have Rhyno be taken to the limit by someone of Dempsey's stature, reminding the fans what a slightly longer Rhyno match can look like, and getting the crowd excited for the possibility of drag-out brawl come Takeover:Unstoppable. Or at the very least, an appearance from Corbin would have helped. It was nice to see the challenge officially laid down for Takeover, but seeing as fans already knew the match was coming, this whole segment felt light and rushed.
