5 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (May 6)

1. Limp Main Event

The price you pay for holding back on the wrestling made itself clear when it came time for the main event. The fans had been forced to sit quietly and watch the titantron for much of the show's running time, which had the effect of sapping their energy. After the first match, which was good, they had to wait about 40 mins for another substantial match. Add to that the fact that the main event was a match that the NXT universe had seen a number of times in the past few months, the fans were noticeably quieter than they usually are. It's an unusual phenomenon for NXT. The fans are one of the most reliable performers each week, injecting the action with that much need energy and fun. Having them even slightly less loud than usual makes a big different to the product. They picked up again for the final violent confrontation between Breeze, Balor and Itami, but the main event was nowhere near up to the quality of previous weeks.
