5 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Jan 18)
2. Another Team Making Up The Numbers, Kai Isn't Clicking
Coming together in a backstage back-and-forth that oddly involved Dakota Kai conversing with an invisible entity (little Jimmy, is that you?), the Captain of Team Kick took on Yulisa Leon in a random one-on-one bout last night.
And everything about this match felt about as thought-out as Leon and Valentina Feroz's overall partnership in the first place, with Kai getting the better of half of a team that could be potentially built up in the upcoming Dusty Classic because... well, it's not clear why.
What the future holds for Kai isn't evident in the slightest. The Gonzalez saga looks to be done. She's nowhere near challenging for the top strap and has no partner to line up alongside for the Dusty Classic. She's in limbo and her win will likely mean next to nothing in the grand scheme of things, so why not give Leon an emphatic victory over a former champ and make a real statement coming into the Dusty Cup?
