5 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (September 24)

Downs…

6. It Says ‘Wrestling’ On The Marquee

Raw Hyundair Connor's Cure
WWE

This is no way a knock against the charity and good work that WWE has performed through Connor’s Cure, raising $2.5 million and helping 400 families along the way.

But a 10-minute infomercial right in the middle of Raw? No thank you.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon delivered an out-of-character promo about the program, showed a video about their partnership with Hyundai (itself a commercial within a commercial) and then did an in-ring presentation to two pediatric cancer survivors.

It was touching. It was heartfelt. It was authentic.

It was not why many fans tuned into Raw Monday night.

This column has been critical of WWE for these in-show, self-promotion gigs before, and this is going to get a “down” here too – not for the content, but its length and placement.
