5. DQ For Excessive Stomping

The first Raw match between Kevin Owens and Finn Balor should have had a little more fanfare to it, and maybe should have had an actual ending.

But alas, we got a DQ finish to the Raw main event Monday, as KO stomped on Balor in the corner beyond the referee’s five count. Yep, we got a disqualification for stomping Finn in the corner. LAME.

Look, obeying the ref’s commands is important, but we’ve seen refs wedge themselves between wrestlers or pull one off another so the match doesn’t end in a DQ. Here, we didn’t really get that, just a dissatisfying conclusion. If we had to have a DQ ending, maybe have Owens shove the referee for trying to break things up.

This was just an excuse ending, which followed a match where a wrestler who didn’t start the match got the pin.
