5 Ways AEW Is Appealing To Millennials (And 5 Ways It’s Failing)
2. Failing - Too Much Content
It’s a problem that any content provider has to deal with nowadays. Sure, more hours means more advertising spots means more money, but at what point do you risk burning out your audience when you do this? Especially when we’re talking about a younger demographic that has so many other options available to them, usually right at their fingertips.
But while AEW don’t have as big of a problem with this as some other companies do, it’s become more clear in recent months that many fans are reaching the limit of how much they can watch on a weekly basis, with Rampage ratings falling as it becomes less of a priority for many.
Now, with the quarterly Battle of the Belts specials starting up and the ever-present possibility of the Friday night show moving to two hours in the future, we have to wonder at what point are you turning these younger fans off and sending them elsewhere instead? Time is precious, after all, and people can only carve out so much time for wrestling. So, if they feel like they're missing out on part of the story every week then the danger is that eventually they'll just stop watching altogether.
