50 Absolute Worst Things WWE Has Done In The 21st Century

2. The Katie Vick Saga (2002)

2002 saw WWE produce "Hot Lesbian Action" for the masses in a bid to up ratings and generate scandalous interest. The infamous Katie Vick saga was another story drummed up with that same salaciousness in mind. However, wrestling fans likely never thought they'd be hearing necrophilia discussed on episodes of flagship show Raw every other Monday.

Triple H dished some alleged dirt on his rival Kane by changing the masked man's backstory to include drink driving, a previously-functioning childhood/adolescence and the aforementioned necrophilia. 'The Game' explained that Kane had agreed to drive a girl called Katie Vick home one night, but did so under the influence, crashed and killed her.

Instead of showing remorse, the 'Big Red Machine' then had sex with the corpse.

WWE booked a mock skit showing Triple H's funeral home send up of this clearly false accusation. However, Kane didn't do much to dispel rumours that he'd killed Katie or interfered with her body post-death. This was all so weird, 'cause it was like the company planned to turn Kane into a sympathetic drink-driver who had sex with a dead body rather than calling an ambulance or the police.

It wouldn't be the last time creative mucked around with Kane's convoluted backstory. The Undertaker and Paul Bearer once spoke of Kane being burned in fires set by 'Taker and spending most of his formative years locked away. Apparently not. Apparently, big crispy was going on dates like any other teenager and then getting up to God knows what when things went wrong.

Utterly deplorable creative, and one of the most infamous WWE 'Ruthless Aggression' controversies.
