50 Absolute Worst Things WWE Has Done In The 21st Century

1. Casting Kane As A Babyface Rapist (2004)

Get this if you can.

It's easy to show sympathy for wrestling's best babyfaces when they're in trouble, but how could anyone be expected to sympathise with someone who forcibly impregnated somebody else then cried once they miscarried the baby?! WWE thought that'd fly for Kane back in 2004. He effectively raped Lita, then shed tears when he accidentally fell on her mid-angle with Gene Snitsky and killed his own child.

Good grief, this is very grim to write about. Someone in WWE's creative meetings seriously thought they could semi-turn Kane babyface by presenting him as a grieving would-be father. Meanwhile, a disassociating Lita lay next to him in a hospital bed wondering how she had ended up in this spot. Matt Hardy, who had a lot more real-life drama coming his way, was also included in the story leading up to the 'Kane is daddy' announcement.

Honestly, what were they thinking with all of this? It was daytime soap opera fare turned sour. It was impossible to feel anything other than disgusted by WWE's storytelling, and that was before they tried to heap a spoonful of sympathy onto Kane. He was a monster, then he fell on Lita and everyone was supposed to get cut up about it?

The biggest story beats in the tale were all wrong. Even if you don't personally agree that this is the worst thing WWE has done in the 21st century to date, you must relent that it just didn't need to happen. Please never do anything like this again, powers that be!
