50 Best Wrestlers Of The 2020s (So Far)

39. Penta

WWE Night Of Champions 2025 Cody Rhodes King Of The Ring
WWE

Penta (El Zero Miedo) entered the 2020s already respected, but the decade has seen him evolve from cult favourite to mainstream standout. His 2021 tag team work in AEW with Rey Fénix as the Lucha Bros hit a peak at the All Out pay-per-view, where they defeated The Young Bucks in a critically acclaimed steel cage match that won multiple Match of the Year awards. It was violent, creative, and emotional - a perfect storm of AEW's strengths, with Penta at its centre.

The Lucha Bros (and their Death Triangle group alongside PAC) continued to deliver throughout 2022 and 2023, including standout tag and trios bouts against the likes of FTR, The Elite and the Blackpool Combat Club, with the Penta's aura even surviving a wonky Penta Oscuro rebrand along the way

His 2024 WWE signing was something of a surprise until his 2025 debut, when he instantly looked at home in a promotion as keen on marketing the gimmick as he always was. After a strong initial run that started with a strong win over Chad Gable (which itself served to kick off the next stage of his career), the push and profile that followed afterwards continued to surprise and delight. He got spots with Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble, and was key to the success of a celebrated four-way Intercontinental Championship match won by Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 41.

Five years into the decade but 15 into his career, Penta connects with fans because of his energy and aura. His "Cero Miedo" gesture is instantly recognisable and repeatable, and his offence is equal parts flashy or brutal per the needs of the promotion he works for. He’s been consistent across both major North American companies in both tag and singles competition, and never feels out of place in either - few wrestlers have shown as much versatility in the 2020s, and in a competitive era, even fewer have made it look this easy.
