50 Best Wrestlers Of The 2020s (So Far)

20. FTR

Since arriving in AEW in 2020, FTR have re-established themselves as the co-standard-bearers of tag team wrestling alongside their most famous rivals.

Their feud with The Young Bucks produced three divisive outings, but the very fact that all of them (and both teams) were held in such high regard speaks to the reputations they'd long established as the modern era icons of the form.  The clash of styles and ethos' between the outfits enhanced the drama, with FTR’s grounded, methodical approach creating a perfect foil for the Bucks’ organised chaos. But it was their legendary trilogy with The Briscoes in Ring of Honor throughout 2022 that really elevated Dax and Cash to positions beyond the traditional lowered ceiling doubles wrestling resides under. Three wars that were bonded by blood but all distinctive, the matches put all four men amongst the elite, even if it would take until Jay Briscoe's devastating passing for Mark to join Harwood and Wheeler on TBS rather than Honor Club.

Like The Bucks, some of FTR's efforts have been an acquired taste, but - again, like The Bucks - those that seek to acquire it typically adore it. Staples of Collision since its 2023 launch, the long matches have suited their favoured double heat style, affording much of the oft-ignored AEW midcard some of their best ever in-ring moments. The passion for the style is obvious, and not just because Dax became known for bringing it up a lot. The end product more than makes up for an earnestness, if you're even the type to have a problem with that.
