6. Woods Continues To Spiral
Xavier Woods losing his big shot at the Intercontinental Championship on Monday night provided the New Day man with another kink in the armor, and fans saw the aftermath almost immediately.
Woods has been spiraling in recent weeks, displaying more heelish behavior, lashing out at Kofi Kingston, and defeating Rey Mysterio last week by pulling his mask off and then rolling him up. Monday, Xavier refused to shake Jey Uso’s hand after losing to him, mocking Kofi for doing so and questioning why he would do that after losing to him.
Then, when Bron Breakker attacked Uso, Woods refused to run in to help Jey, leaving Kofi to go it alone. Spoiler: It didn’t go well for Kingston. And then Xavier got speared anyway for his troubles, which will only feed more into his frustrations.
Woods hasn’t outright done something villainous, but as New Day approaches its 10-year anniversary, the duo is rapidly approaching an inflection point where Xavier will force Kofi’s hand to confront his stablemate. Woods will either pull back from the precipice, or he will go over the edge.
