6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 30)

4. Some Heel Beatdown Goodness

Man, Sheamus looked like a total badass for taking the fight to Imperium despite being outnumbered. The Irishman went into battle knowing he'd be destroyed, but that didn't stop him. Look! It's a tough-talking babyface fans can get behind, and one who doesn't lean on too much comedy (calling Gunther "Betsy" aside).

Thank f*ck.

This arse-kicking segment was better because WWE kept it serious. There's a lot of excitement for Gunther vs. Sheamus II next week, and rightly so. They walloped one another on Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, and they'll be fired up to do so again (presumably in the main event slot) on SmackDown's season premiere.

Gunther and Sheamus are gold together right now. They can wrestle, they can talk, and they've got credibility with the audience as warriors capable of tearing men apart. That cred, as this skit showed, goes a long way with people.
