6 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 20)

Matt Hardy is in a state of flux.

His brother's injury knocked their tag team's revival for a loop, and Matt spent months bumming around the card's lower reaches, lucky to make his way onto Main Event, let alone Raw. He had no purpose, and WWE are only now trying to invest time into him through his ongoing program with Elias, which continued last night.

Having lost to 'The Drifter' at Survivor Series, Matt interrupted another of his foe's in-ring busking sessions, though Elias bailed after a quick scrap. Hardy then cut a brief promo after the show, claiming he was "close to breaking point," teasing the fans with another promise that WWE can't fulfil: the Broken Universe coming to Raw.

A clause in Hardy's old Impact Wrestling contract prevents him from using the gimmick in WWE, so why even bother? It's good that they're doing something with Matt, but this angle is hollow. The company would be wise to build the Elias feud towards a conclusion they can actually deliver.
