It’s a rarity in wrestling these days where fans buy into an angle with minimal presentation, and promotions are smart enough to keep things small and simple at the same time. When that happens, it’s magic.

Witness Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar, a feud that grew out of a less-than-perfect Royal Rumble clash but has been handled masterfully the past two weeks. After last week’s Fall From Grace left Brock flat on his back, Lesnar and Paul Heyman made their way out to open Raw so the Advocate could run down Oba and talk about how no one has been able to properly stop the Beast.

Enter, Femi, who strutted down to the ring for a staredown. He escaped an F-5 attempt and clotheslined Brock over the top rope. And that was it. And the fans were rabid for all of it.

The crowd clearly saw something they desperately want, and WWE gave them just enough without overdoing. Perhaps one could argue that Heyman talked a bit too much, but his ranting added a bit more to another dose of comeuppance when Oba dropped Brock.

At some point soon, Lesnar will need to tip the scales back, but this is building nicely to WrestleMania 42.
