6 Ups And 1 Down From Last Night's WWE NXT (June 29)
6. Ups - Twisted Bliss
The opening match on NXT was set up on last week's episode when Alexa Bliss and Carmella got face to face during a backstage interview. This week, the two women met in the ring, and the result was a pretty good match that put a spotlight on two of the up-and-comers in the Women's Division.
The match was paced slow and steady, with the women working a lot of headlocks in the opening minutes. Alexa eventually took control by working Carmella's arm over, even wrenching it with a dragon screw over the bottom rope. Finally, Bliss took Carmella to the mat and put her away with the Twisted Bliss (a lame new name for the Sparkle Splash).
NXT's Women's Division has always been a hugely important part of the brand, but the call-ups of Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Emma, Dana Brooke, and Becky Lynch have meant the depletion of the roster. Asuka, Bayley, and Nia Jax are still fighting for the championship, but it's good to see that the rest of the division is being fleshed out, as well.
