If you’re looking for the definition of a “throwaway show,” TLC 2019 might be a picture-perfect example.

The last PPV of the year featured a main card comprised of seven matches, with three tag team title bouts and four singles grudge matches. It had two TLC bouts, with one barely exploring the stipulation. No singles titles – nor no singles title-holders – showed up on the PPV. Your two main matches were a feud over someone’s nickname of “The Big Dog” and the women’s tag titles.

That’s not meant to denigrate the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, but overall, this show really felt like it wasn’t important. Most matches weren’t announced until they were a week out. Of the seven main show matches, only two were really good. One tag title bout ended in a double count-out, and three of the singles grudge matches were disappointing at best.

Aside from Daniel Bryan returning, nothing of note happened. And the big backstage brawl that spilled into the arena at the end was just a poor attempt at window dressing.
