6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (July 10)

Ups...

6. Roman Heels It Up With Angle

In the Great Balls of Fire column Monday, this writer gave Roman Reigns a down for his post-match antics with the caveat that it was forgivable if Roman was turning heel. Otherwise, his actions made little sense.

Monday night, Reigns continued down that strange, straddling path, lecturing GM Kurt Angle, acting smug despite losing his PPV match and demanding a Universal Championship match. He mocked Samoa Joe, despite having never beaten him and despite losing to Brock Lesnar himself.

Roman told Angle that the GM owed him because he brutalized Braun Strowman and took him out of action. He even took a swipe at Angle for all his personal “troubles” with the text messages. All of that sounded like the promo of a heel going after the good authority figure, not a babyface. And if it wasn’t clear, the fans rode Roman, booing him all the way to the ring.

So given that things somewhat carried over from Sunday night, we’ll give this a very tenuous “up” here.
