If Raw is going to open with a talking segment, then it’s gratifying when it is a relatively short one that sets up the next couple weeks of storylines.

GM Kurt Angle came out to announced the two Money in the Bank ladder matches for the men and women. He also announced that there would be a series of qualifying matches. He made two triple threat bouts, but then was interrupted by Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens. Both men wanted in the men’s MITB ladder match, so Angle pitted them against each other.

Just like that, three of the participants would be settled on Monday. And knowing there are five more slots to be filled, we know that the next few weeks will feature more matches to set the Raw field.

It doesn’t take much to make this writer happy. Sometimes, it’s as simple as basic storytelling.
