6 Ups And Downs For Last Night's WWE Raw (March 2nd)

6. Blayzing A Trail

Women€™s wrestling in the early 90s was so dismal that the WWF Women€™s Championship was deactivated for several years. It€™s hard to believe that less than a decade earlier, it was Wendy Richter and Cindy Lauper that helped trigger the Rock €˜n€™ Wrestling Connection that launched WWF into the stratosphere. That€™s why WWE€™s decision to induct Alundra Blayze (known as Madusa in AWA and WCW) into its Hall of Fame is an appropriate decision. She helped revitalize WWF women€™s wrestling in the mid-90s, reminding fans that women could be more than eye candy on the outside of the ring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPPT84qMxCs WWE deserves a bit of credit for not only deciding to induct Blayze into the WWE HOF, but also acknowledging one of the most infamous moments in the Monday Night Wars €“ when she jumped to WCW and dumped the WWF Women€™s Championship into the trash live on Nitro. While that was part of the WWE Network series, seeing it acknowledged on Raw was a somewhat bold move. The company has glazed over other parts of wrestling history, but this was too important to ignore.
