7 Biggest Opportunities WWE Missed To Turn Roman Reigns Heel
4. Amidst His Wellness Policy Violation
Again, another simple story. Boo, how dare you let all those kiddies who cheer for you down by violating WWE's Wellness Policy, Roman? In the summer of 2016, that was a path open for WWE to go down, but they chose to have Reigns "take ownership" of the issue. Another huge opportunity missed then.
Right as WWE were preparing to launch their latest brand extension and reveal Roman as Raw's top name, he went and got himself suspended for 30 days in June. He even appeared in the main event of the Battleground pay-per-view in July despite not appearing on TV for much of the build. That just screams of heel entitlement.
Imagine Roman had filmed a quick promo after being suspended. At first, he'd "take ownership" of the problem, before blaming the fans for driving him down a rocky road by booing him relentlessly. It'd be a risky move in the PG era to use the Wellness Policy as a plot device, but keep in mind that WWE acknowledged the ordeal on TV anyway.
