7 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (Nov 3)
4. Stephanie McMAN I HATE THAT CU-
Kurt Angle might as well have been photoshopped in that header image, because he is the second consecutive subject of Stephanie McMahon's snarl. He is now playing the role of Mick Foley - a dressed-down administrator undergoing a job evaluation onscreen.
I'm working on a theory that the Stephanie McMahon character is literally the worst thing to happen to modern wrestling - worse than Jinder Mahal, worse than the overabundance of gimmick pay-per-views, worse than SuperCena. Bear with me:
The Steve Austin Vs. Mr. McMahon Attitude Era programme was the best thing to happen to modern wrestling. Expertly designed and attuned to fan sentiment, it was a fabulously entertaining exercise in wish fulfilment. You believed in Austin because he was a diamond sharp badass who outsmarted his boss in the face of impossible odds - and the boss, humiliated, hammed it up to perfection in his overwrought selling. It was great escapism driven by great writing and even better performances.
Stephanie McMahon is the opposite of the best thing to happen to modern wrestling, and therefore must be the worst. Austin allowed his public to escape the mundanity of life by smashing his boss on the bonce with a bedpan. Stephanie reminds everybody of the working day by belittling everyone beneath her, casting them as subservient drones, and never getting what's hers.
"You've got to admit, you missed me a little bit," said Stephanie on her RAW return.
I missed her like I miss my banjo string.
