7 Occupational WWE Gimmicks That Were Really Stupid

3. The Goon

The sport of hockey is known as a place for fighting for people that don't totally understand the game. It is a part of it, but it's really just a small part of it. When WWE brought in The Goon in 1996 they pushed the idea that he got kicked out hockey so he tried wrestling where fighting is legal. At least that's what he told us. What was especially hilarious about the character was the outfit. Not only did he wrestle in a hockey style jersey that had no name or number on it, but his footwear was incredible. Wrestling boots? Oh no. He wore what looked to be hockey skates except the bottom of them didn't have blades. They were simply heightened shoes. It was ridiculous. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inrl4MPddFk His matches were so bad, but at least he stayed true to the character. He would run at people from behind like a cross check. It was cheap in hockey although it was legal in wrestling, so that's why he did it. He actually won matches by countout due to the cross check outside the ring. Who thought this character was a good idea? No idea.
