7 Reasons I Regret Staying Up To Watch WWE Payback 2016

Speaking of constantly reprised themes that really need to be consigned to the bin of history, how ridiculous is it that in 2016 one of the major stories on WWE TV revolves around which member of the McMahon family will get to run Monday Night RAW? The idea may have had some merit in the late 1990s, but that was almost twenty years ago.

The semi-main event of this show as an overly long in-ring talking segment involving Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon. It was built as Vince finally putting an end to this ridiculous story and putting one of his children in charge, but ended with both getting the nod.

All of which pretty guarantees that we have more McMahon fun on our screens over the next few weeks, something that will continue to keep the product stuck in a past that needs to be left behind.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
