1. Nobody Has Ever Been Better At Interacting With The Crowd
http://youtu.be/XCo2mOF95UQ There's no wrestler that has ever been better at playing off of the crowd reactions. That's why The Rock called himself the "People's Champion" in the first place all those years ago. Steve Austin was really good at it, especially after the "What?" phenomenon, but The Rock has done it better than anybody. When he would do backstage interviews, he would listen to the crowd reactions. He would pause for the people whether they were chanting for him or against him. It made the crowd feel like they were involved because, quite frankly, they were. That's a big reason why he had such a connection with the fans and still does. It's hard to remember how many times I've seen The Rock in person doing his thing in front of the crowd. The last time I was in the building with him was WrestleMania 30 when he wasn't advertised. It was an amazing moment to see him in that ring with Austin and Hogan. Three years earlier as the WrestleMania 27 host, his show opening promo had us on fire in the crowd and we were interacting with him a lot. There were also several times in 1998-2001 where he would say certain things to get a crowd fired up. You felt lucky just being in the crowd with him. His ability to interact with the fans is why he can show up unannounced on a random October in 2014 and have one of the best appearances of anybody all year just because of what he says on the microphone. It's that connection with the fans that makes it all happen. It's hard to teach what The Rock has. In some ways, he was born with it. In other ways, he had to work his ass off to get better and he deserves a lot of credit for doing so. Through it all, he always found a way to include the ones that mattered the most...the people. His people. The Rock is the best talker in WWE history and there's a very good chance that nobody will be better. It's not going to be easy for somebody to top him.
