7 Things Roman Reigns Must Do To Win Over Fans

1. Turn Him Heel

It seems that fans have either given up on John Cena turning heel, or just kind of embraced the fact that we’re stuck with that lovable/hateable goofball the way he is. Roman has now become their favorite target to voice their displeasure in the role that he’s been asked to portray.

From an outside perspective, there’s not a lot to like about Roman. He had a big leg up in the business due to his family, wrestling was obviously a back-up plan for him since the NFL was his goal and he was born with movie star good looks. It’s easy to be jealous of the dude, which is why instead of fighting all of that, WWE should embrace us booing him.

It’s hard to see what the negative is at this point. He doesn’t appear to sell a fraction of the merchandise that John Cena did in his prime, and there doesn’t seem to be any proof that him in the main event of an episode of Raw or a pay-per-view means big business.

So much like The Rock, let us root against the guy for awhile, and if he’s really good in the role then turn him back someday when he has the respect of the fans. Every week they keep him as a top face is only doing long term damage to his character and wasting time on creating compelling matches with him as the villain.

This move is at least a year overdue, but will Vince finally get it together and realize that?

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
