Throughout the interview with Edge and Christian, McIntyre wanted to hammer home just how far he has come as a promo artist since his first stint in WWE. Back then, the main worry would have been masking Drew's Ayrshire accent so he was easy to understand for American viewers. That's why he appeared so robotic.

More concerned with learning his lines and how to say them than putting across a statement of intent during his promos, Drew would overthink his interviews and didn't really feel them. Watch his back and forth promos with the likes of R-Truth and Teddy Long for an example of that. You'll see a guy who didn't really know what WWE wanted from him.

Hilariously, Drew refers to his old self as 'Captain Wooden'. This shows a great sense of humour from McIntyre. He's aware that his first run of promos didn't come across as natural. Drew's self-deprecating humour led Edge to remark that wrestlers are much better off filling gaps with 'um' than pauses, otherwise fans will chant 'What?'.
