7 Ups & 1 Down For WWE NXT (Dec 9)
6. Jake Atlas Swerves Isaiah Scott
With Jake Atlas picking up a vital victory on last week's show, the newly focused Cruiserweight set his sights on former ally Isaiah "Swerve" Scott on this week's episode.
The pair wasted little time here as Atlas cartwheeled and flipped his way around the ring, and "Swerve" used his intelligence in the squared-circle and unorthodox offence to catch the plucky former gymnast off-guard. Scott's dodging of a springboard cross-body with a kip-up was particularly impressive.
Yet, it was Atlas who was able to outsmart his more experienced foe on this occasion, catching Scott with a cheeky pin to pick up the win. Scott looked visually p*ssed in the wake of this sudden conclusion, with the former NXT Cruiserweight Championship challenger completely dismissing a post-match handshake with Atlas.
Another week and another important W for the ever-improving Cruiserweight Atlas. He doesn't need to be rushed straight into a title programme with Santos Escobar right now as the champ has enough on his plate with Number #1 Contender Curt Stallon. But, having Atlas pick up some momentum with wins like this over the next few weeks seems like a solid star-making plan for now.
