7 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 1)

1. World Class Champion

Say goodbye to Eddie Edwards' World Championship open challenges, as Eric Young has dethroned him to become a two-time World Champion in his own right.

'The World Class Maniac' was revealed as Eddie's challenger this week after ambushing the former Wolves member after his successful defence over Rob Van Dam at the start of last week's episode, and chose to focus his onslaught on the champ's neck in their bout. Between dropping Eddie throat-first across the top rope or delivering a neckbreaker on the ring apron (insert hardest part of the ring comment), it was all to set up for his match-ending piledriver. A crack to the skull from his hockey mask before spiking Edwards was exactly the sort of antics we've come to expect from Young.

Undoubtedly, this was the correct decision. Eddie Edwards' title reign was great, as were the open challenges. Each match provided something different, from the high-octane bout he had with Trey Miguel to the rivalry he reignited with Sami Callihan for a night, and now, this one offered something unique in its own right.

It's important to note that EY attacked the now-former champion after the bell, destroying his leg in a similar manner to what he dished out to Rich Swann at Slammiversary. We're yet to hear from the former X Division Champion since his 'retirement' - is Eric Young as World Champion the thing he needs to make a comeback?
