4. Lyra’s Confidence Soars
Prior to WrestleMania 41, Lyra Valkyria could easily be described as Becky Lynch’s unofficial mentee, a “young girl” studying under the learning tree of The Man.
But after entering a post-'Mania feud and beating her at Backlash earlier this month, Valkyria has seemed to gain an increasing amount of confidence, which bordered on bubbling over Monday night. Lyra said she wanted to move on and face a new challenger, but Becky was delusional and had politicked her way into another Women’s Intercontinental Championship match at Money in the Bank.
Lynch, Valkyria contended, had made this rivalry personal by getting in her fiancé’s face, injuring her eye and nose, and trying to break her arm post-match at the PLE. Now, Lyra simply wanted to break Becky and bash her head in at MITB.
Becky made her way out to once again try to claim credit for making Valkyria relevant – which isn’t entirely untrue – but Lyra got a bit smug in pointing out that people were talking about her because she beat Lynch, not because Becky forcefully endorsed her and stepped aside.
Here’s the interesting side note: there’s a fine line between confidence that helps a young champion elevate their game, and over-confidence that leads to their downfall. Which version are we getting at Money in the Bank? And will this factor in the outcome of their rematch?
