7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 6)

2. Ancient History Isn’t The Way

Last week, Raw kicked off a feud between Edge and Miz that showed some potential. And it very well could end up being an overall positive voyage, but Monday’s offering was less than expected.

The immediate turnoff came when Miz decided to once again wind back the clock 15 years to when he was kicked out of the locker room, and then drag Edge into it, asking where were him and his kindness when Miz needed it most. He talked about his earliest days in WWE and how he didn’t fit the mould, which led to Edge talking about going through some of the same things seven years earlier.

This wouldn’t have been bad, except that Miz has gone to this well before. He’s pulled this ancient history out to try to generate heat before. The only time it really worked was before WrestleMania 27, when he was trying to make the point before main-eventing against John Cena. That was 10+ years ago.

Miz in 2021 has been world champion twice, a multi-time tag and secondary champion, has a beautiful wife and a successful reality TV show. The sob story about 15 years ago was an instant turnoff. Ditch it permanently or else we’ll be comparing this feud to something else from history: Titanic.
