7 Ups & 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 20)

Ups...

7. The Miz Jobs... Hard

The Miz Jobber

The Miz jobbing to a local enhancement talent sounds like a surefire Down on paper, but it worked. The point of last night's interactions with Shane McMahon was almost certainly to build to a future match between the two. To that end, Miz's shock defeat is justified. He acted like a d*ck throughout the scrap, refused to take opponents Jimmy Ping and Tony Bone seriously, and paid for it with a big dollop of embarrassment.

Though the match was nothing, it serves as a minor step forward in a brewing storyline. There's little chance Shane and Miz's cohesion remains in place. 'The A-Lister' will find a way to blame the Commissioner for the defeat, and boom. Off we go.

Miz will be fine. His character is bulletproof, and the strength of his performances means that he never loses heat, no matter how many times he's humiliated. All it'll take to recover from this is a single fire promo, which he'll surely deliver the moment he decides to stop pretending to McMahon's best buddy. There's no need to worry about him at all.
