7 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 12th)
2. Reduced To A Caricature
When Charlotte was having show-stealing matches in NXT, she was the NXT Womens Champion first and the daughter of Ric Flair second. She won over fans with her skill in the ring, not with her pedigree. But on Raw Monday night, Charlotte stood on the apron until she got the tag from Becky Lynch. She quickly peppered Brie Bella with Flair-like knife-edge chops, drawing woos from the crowd. She hit a neckbreaker and spear before things broke down and she ultimately ended up taking the pin. So the Divas Champion, one of the three big components of the so-called Divas Revolution, mimicked her father, hit two moves and then immediately got pinned by the Bella twin who spent the last year getting pinned by her sisters challengers. One can only hope that this is solely due to a compressed segment and is not reflective of the creative teams direction, but its hard not to feel apprehensive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK10mT5nK7E Charlotte is better than this. Womens wrestling should be better than this. Having your champ lose nothing tag matches is just stupid, especially when its a new, young champ and youre trying to get fans to care about womens wrestling. But hey, WWE has a cool hashtag!
