7 WCW Feuds Which Carried Over To WWE

6. Booker T And Chris Benoit

Booker T and Chris Benoit represented the future of WCW in the mid to late 1990s. They were two younger guys that hadn't become main event performers that WCW fans wanted to see elevated to the next level. It probably should have happened for both of them in that 1997-1999 period. Instead it happened in 2000 when Benoit left the company and for Booker it was later in 2000, but by that time the company nearly died. They had a best of seven series of matches in 1998 to see who would become the #1 contender to the TV Title held by Finlay. It's weird to have a feud for that long for the third biggest title in the company, but again that was WWE. Their matches took place on Nitro, Thunder, WCW Saturday Night and then the seventh match was at the 1998 Great American Bash. Booker won the last match to win the series and he went on to beat Finlay for the TV Title at that same 1998 Bash PPV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOj5Ok1H4-g Benoit was in WWE in 2000 while Booker got there in the summer of 2001. Their most notable interaction was a Best of 7 feud for the US Title. Since the title was vacated, it made sense for them to have a series of matches to see who the next US Champion would be. They were on the Smackdown brand, so their matches took place on five episodes of Smackdown, plus the Survivor Series and Armageddon PPVs as well. The tourney didn't end up well because Booker got injured and missed the last three matches, so he was replaced by Orton, who won the US Title for Booker in early 2006. Benoit ended up winning it soon after. There were other matches between them in both companies too, but it's that best of seven series that people really remember. It was a smart idea for WCW to do it and WWE was smart to copy it too. It's just a shame that Booker got injured during their series of matches.
