7 WWE Suspensions Nobody Saw Coming
2. Hulk Hogan (2015)
Watching the downfall of any childhood icon can be tough, but in pro wrestling none have been more challenging than that of Hulk Hogan. Still undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in WWE history, Hogan's 2015 was a remarkable one, and not really for positive reasons. That year would include a shameful departure from WWE.
On July 24, WWE announced that they were terminating their contract with Hulk, the main reason being alleged racial comments made by Hogan in a leaked tape. The whole situation was apparently too much for the McMahon family to put up with, and they figured it was better to remove Hulk from his role as a WWE ambassador.
Going the whole nine yards, WWE also deleted the bulk of Hogan's history from their website, including his WWE Hall Of Fame entry. It wasn't just the infamous wrestler's ill-advised comments that shocked people, WWE's reaction was equally as startling.
Hogan had been back on good terms with the promotion, and Vince McMahon had even joined Hulk in the ring to celebrate his birthday on Raw just around one year earlier. Even now, he hasn't been welcomed back into the fold, although most figure Hogan will return someday when the furore is old news.
