7 WWE Suspensions Nobody Saw Coming

1. Roman Reigns (2016)

48 hours before the announcement of his suspension, Roman Reigns stood in the ring as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Just two days later, he is very much on the outside looking in, no longer WWE Champ and facing 30 days on the sidelines due to violating the WWE Wellness Policy.

Apologising on Twitter, Reigns assessed that he had let family and friends down with his actions. WWE's pet project for quite some time now, Roman has been consistently pushed as one of the top stars in the company, despite many fans having objections. Like him or loathe him, few can claim they weren't surprised to learn that Reigns had been suspended.

He's definitely the most high-profile victim of the Wellness Policy terms ever, nobody in as lofty a spot as Reigns has been guilty of violating the policy. It's embarrassing for WWE, but also for the wrestler himself, who will likely now miss out on the headline slot of Battleground on July 24.

Roman will be missing for much of the build up to that pay-per-view, so it's difficult to envision WWE keeping him in the pre-announced Triple Threat Match also involving Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.
