8 Big Questions Raised By Neville Walking Out On WWE
2. When Will WWE Learn?
WWE's crippling inability to get the best out of multi-talented performers is a common complaint, but one that still holds weight. Yes, they've made stars of indie faves like Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins, but they still leave swathes of outstanding wrestlers gathering dust, and while Jinder Mahal is living it up as SmackDown's centrepiece, the Cesaros and Rusevs of the world are languishing.
Top talents walking away from the company as a direct result of misuse isn't an epidemic yet, but it's still a problem. Cody Rhodes did it in 2016, Austin Aries followed suit earlier this year, and Neville is now on the verge of doing the same. These guys should all be money-making commodities for the world's biggest wrestling promotion, but they're now free to draw crowds and sell tickets for other companies instead.
The McMahons must learn from this. While some misused performers are willing to sit around and collect their monthly WWE paycheck, other's aren't. There'll be more departures if they keep booking talent this way, and with New Japan and the indies both surging, there's no shortage of places for wrestlers make a good living without the frustrations that come with working for WWE.
