Apart from being known as a master suplex machine and submission expert, Chris Benoit is known for delivering the most vicious chops in all of WWE. Long before his name was purged from WWE history, Benoit had a reputation as a genuinely tough man that took no prisoners, especially when it came to rookies.

Benoit would work stiff with these younger wrestlers, delivering some of the stiffest and loudest chops ever heard on WWE programming. For good examples, look at how Benoit chopped Daniel Puder during the 2005 Royal Rumble, or during his encounters with guys like the Miz.

Benoit’s chops were downright brutal, and always got a huge reaction from the crowd. It didn’t matter if he was wrestling against rookies or in the main event, everyone who faced Benoit made it painfully obvious just how much of an ordeal it was to take a Chris Benoit chop.

This tendency of Benoit’s to demonstrate such power in his chops had a twofold impact on his career. First, it was a simple-yet-effective way to portray Benoit as a tough man who could dish out a lot of damage despite his smaller stature, and second, it helped boost his popularity by presenting him as an even more versatile wrestler.
